Sustainable Working

Accelerate your progress and reach sustainability goals

Increasing concern for the planet and our environment has resulted in businesses looking for ways to be more sustainable.

Most, if not all, businesses are now considering the effect they have on the environment, and how they can have a positive impact going forward. How they tackle this issue varies from industry to industry.

There is a high possibility that, if a business is not properly utilising the technology at their disposal, they are negatively impacting the environment, e.g. by excessive paper waste. That's where digital transformation comes in. As cloud solution partners, we can offer many solutions to your sustainability goals.

Tools To Help You Work Sustainably

Cloud Services. Build and scale efficient operations with green datacentres run by Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
SharePoint. Easily share files in dedicated intranet spaces. Keep everything in once place and reduce paper waste with SharePoint.
Power BI. Visualise sustainability practices and calculate your carbon impact by using data-driven insights provided by Power BI.
Teams. Go green by going remote and allow teammates to collaborate and chat seamlessly in the process.

Microsoft's Sustainability Commitment

Microsoft has been working to better their internal systems to reduce their carbon footprint since 2020. They have goals to be carbon negative and water positive by 2030, and achieve a zero direct waste footprint. They aim to reverse all their historical carbon emissions by 2050.

Microsoft are also committed to protecting and preserving ecosystems, supporting environmental research through its Planetary Computer initiative, and ensuring it protects more land than it uses by 2025.

To meet these goals, Microsoft is focusing on improving energy efficiency of AI and cloud operations. This includes developing more efficient AI models, scheduling workloads during off-peak hours, and retrofitting existing data centers with liquid cooling systems.

Sustainable construction is another key part of Microsoft's approach. The company has invested in green steel production through Sweden's Stegra initiative, which cuts carbon emissions by up to 95%. It is also replacing traditional steel with cross-laminated wood in their data centres, and working with partners to develop concrete with a lower embodied carbon footprint.

Microsoft's data centers are being optimized for energy, water, and waste efficiency. Many are powered by solar energy and built to LEED Gold standards, ensuring lower energy consumption, water conservation, and healthier work environments. Additionally, advanced chip-level cooling solutions are helping to save more than 125 million litres of water per data center every year.
